POPCUP
Woodruff Arts Center | Perkins + Will | 2015
POPCUP was a coffee shop concept proposal presented to the Woodruff Arts Center with the goal of adaptively reusing a vacant storage area as a public-facing quick-service cafe. Our team was inspired by the imagery and palette of the surrounding High Museum campus as context, particularly the iconic House (III) pop art piece by Roy Lichtenstein, which can be seen from the interior. For this project I created As-Builts of the existing space, reproduced a 3D CAD model of the space, and used these drawings to stage a unique coffee shop program. Though a departure from the futuristic self-serve concept was made, the space was indeed renovated into a cafe and is currently host to Refuge Coffee Co. Come POP in if you’re ever visiting the High Museum!
