POPCUP

 Woodruff Arts Center | Perkins + Will | 2015

POPCUP is a coffee shop concept presented to the Woodruff Arts Center,
the goal of which was to adaptively reuse a vacant storage area as a public-facing
quick-service cafe. Our team was inspired by the imagery and palette of the surrounding High Museum campus as context, particularly the iconic House (III) pop art piece by Roy Lichtenstein, which can be viewed from the project’s interior.

For this project I personally recorded As-Builts of the existing space and reproduced a 3D BIM model of the space for our team, whereafter we used these drawings to stage our design and unique programming. Although a departure from our futuristic self-serve concept was made, the space was indeed renovated into a contemporary cafe, and is currently host to Refuge Coffee Co. POP by on your next visit to the High Museum!
